What we carve

Garden & Landscape Sculpture for Hotels, Resorts and Public Spaces

Fountain figures, animal sculptures, wall reliefs and abstract pieces, carved for the place they will stand in — outdoors, in weather, at scale.

Outdoor sculpture is judged twice: once when it is installed, and again five years later. The second judgement is the one that matters. A piece intended for a garden, a hotel courtyard, a resort poolside or a public plaza needs a stone that still reads after years of rain, sun and, in coastal settings, salt.

We default to granite for anything permanently exposed, or a weather-selected sandstone where the colour matters more than the surface life. If a design needs a softer stone, we will say so and explain what the exposure means for it.

  • Granite recommended for exposed, coastal and freeze-thaw sites
  • Fountain, planter and water-feature integration planned with your MEP drawings
  • Relief panels and architectural stone elements sized to the wall they sit on
  • Multiple-piece sets matched for colour and grain so the group reads as one commission

Questions we get asked

Which stone lasts outdoors?

Granite, by a margin, for anything permanently exposed — particularly coastal sites where salt spray and wind-driven sand attack the surface. Sandstone and limestone weather more quickly and can stain in polluted air, but they hold warmth and colour that granite does not. Marble outdoors is a decision you should make knowingly, not by default.

Can a fountain figure be carved to work with existing pipework?

Yes, if we see the drawings before carving starts. Send the pump specification, pipe positions and the waterproofing detail. Water paths and drill routes are set at the modelling stage — routing them afterwards means cutting into finished surfaces, which we would rather avoid.

How are large pieces delivered and installed?

Anything beyond a certain size is carved in sections, crated, and assembled on site by your contractor using our drawings. Lifting points are marked on each block and the joints are numbered. We photograph every crate open and closed so you can inspect before you sign for delivery.

Can you match an existing piece in a garden?

Often, yes — send photographs and measurements of the piece it has to sit beside. Where the original stone is still available we will try to match it; where it is not, we will tell you how close we can realistically get rather than promising a match.

How to start

Send a photograph or drawing of the subject, the finished height you want, your preferred stone if you have one, and the destination port or city. If you would rather talk it through first, email us at sales@yantangstone.com and we will ask for what we need.

Send us the reference, and we will tell you what is possible

We would rather say no at the quoting stage than take a deposit for something the stone cannot hold. Send your reference and we will give you a straight answer.
